:: Christmas Quilt

 

As long as I can remember, my Dad's birthday (November 8th) has marked the date that us kids were allowed to start listening to Christmas music.  He loved it so much, and seamlessly passed that love down to each one of his 9 children!  The past 2 days, my own little munchies have been listening to it non-stop.  And I admit, the music and recent cold weather have made me want to enjoy every minute of this coming Christmas season.

 

 

Last year I made this quilt for my Mom for her December birthday.  It was one of those quilts you love (and hate) to give away.  I especially adore the red ric-rac trim around the edges.  Ric rac makes my heart beat faster.  Especially when it's red.  =) 

 

I free-motion quilted it, using stippling with loops thrown in here and there.

Someday, I think I'm gonna have to make one for me.  =)



:: 7 Months

 

It's hard to believe my Little Mista is already 7 months.  Complete with 4 teeth now!

He's so easy-going and tolerant of all the "love" he receives on an hourly basis.

 

 

 

 

 

His all-time favorite activity is the Jonny-Jump-Up.  He will literally bounce for a solid hour if all the family is around and he's in the middle of it.  He also loves to sit with a pile of toys, chewing and exploring with his mouth...

 

 

He re-discovered a love for his thumb after I stopped getting up in the middle of the night to put his pacifier back in (how is it that I don't notice it creep in?).  Now we are all much happier.

 

 

He smiles and laughs constantly, he's had 4 haircuts so far, and I'm enjoying these last fleeting moments of his inability to move.  =)  We love you boy.  Even more than last month.

This next one I made for my little sister a few weeks ago.  She wanted something special for their anniversary.  And it went much better, since I used a different method for painting on the lettering.

Rather than trace the outline with a pen, I used a flat-head screwdriver, and pressed the outline of the letters.  So much easier!

 



I made it completely on my own.  You know what they say:  Necessity is the mother of invention.  And in the process, I learned how to use 2 more of my man's power tools.  It's quite a liberating experience.  Now I told him I can make as many as I get the hankering to!  Good thing.  I think he is getting tired of having to create all my pinterest ideas.

:: Square One quilt blocks

Have you ever felt like you have so many projects in the works (or in your mind) that you don't know which to work on first?  That's how I feel, with past projects unfinished, and Christmas projects looming... And I want them all done.  Now!

 

 

2 years ago I stumbled upon a book at the library.  I give it full credit for re-sparking my love for quilting in a whole new way.  Not to mention, I adore Camlle's blog, as well as the many fabric lines she's designed...

 



So back then I started making these quilt blocks from a pattern in her book, Square One.  A week or 2 ago I pulled out all the blocks I had made, and am now finishing them into a lap quilt for all those chilly early mornings when the fire hasn't heated the living room yet!

I'm not gonna let myself start this advent calendar till all the blocks on this quilt top are pieced together!  What's on your to-get-done list?

 

:: Something for Girl #2

 

Slowly...in progress...a sweet little cardi forming on my knitting needles.

 This In Threes cardigan for my 4-year-old Audrey is taking form.  Every evening I get about 4-6 rows done, and then my eyes just won't stay open any longer.  Drat needing sleep!  =)

 

Every morning she asks, "Did you sew the buttons on yet?!"

Soon, girl.  Soon.



:: Harvest Party

This year we hosted a Harvest Party out at our place, the weekend before Halloween.  Every single person, regardless of age, showed up in a costume.
